OUNCE OF PREVENTION WORTH 4 POUNDS OF CURE

Preventing War is 60 Times Cheaper than Fighting It

Research has indicated that investing early to prevent conflicts from escalating into violent crises is, on average, 60 times more cost effective than intervening after violence erupts. Still, the world spends just $1 on conflict prevention for every $1,885 it spends on military budgets. Here in the U.S., less than 2% of income tax goes to civilian foreign affairs agencies; meanwhile, 39% goes to the military. And though taxpayers provide almost $1 billion per year for military academies, they pay only about $40 million for the United States Institute of Peace—the only U.S. agency dedicated to conflict prevention and peacebuilding.

YOU ARE A MASTERPIECE IN PROGRESS

Posted by on January 20, 2012

“You are the masterpiece of your own life;
you are the Michelangelo of your experience.
The David that you are sculpting is you.
And you do it with your thoughts.” Dr. Joe Vitale

Actually we become all these things through the details of daily work and action.

We are all filled with wonder and potential, we just need to believe and then act with love not fear on this personal abundance and miraculous creations will be ours to share.

SO HOW WILL FREEDOM AND JUSTICE FOR ALL BE ADMINISTERED?

Posted by on January 12, 2012

“Injustice any where is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny.” Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  So how do people earn a living wage? Through education & self education, government intervention, corporate social responsibility or a higher spiritual awareness of our “Oneness”?  Possibly all  4?

TOO NICE FOR OUR OWN GOOD!

Posted by on January 10, 2012

Yes we can all enjoy this warmer then usual March like weather in January unless you are into skiing or other seasonal sports or own and run a winter resort.  This weather change is not natural and has been moving toward us the past decade or two. It does not look too well for those who don’t believe in climate change and global warming. Time is not on our side if we don’t come together with an action plan soon. Why is the United Sates against making some adjustments and signing the Kyoto agreement? Could it be we are bowing to international corporate interests? We could be drowning in more then just red ink in the decade ahead.

THE ART OF BEING A GOOD LISTENER!

Posted by on January 9, 2012

True, sincere listening is a profoundly healing act.   Stories are formed in the act of being told:  there is no story without a listener. Listening is the antidote to rage, violence, debasement, humiliation, injustice and despair which is why friends and community groups are important. What do you think about these 6 points for listening? Six points to being a good listener: 1. Create silence inside. 2. Try to stay silent whether for 5 minutes or an hr. 3. Stay engaged with a question or hum of sympathy. 4. Focus on what the person is saying. 5. Don’t judge. 6. Take care of yourself if things get to heavy or difficult to understand.

Alarm bells, not Peace bells, ring as one billion young Moslems under 30 demand change!

Posted by on July 4, 2011

Not bells of Peace but Alarm bells ring as one billion young Moslems under 30 want change so get out of their way they want and need it now!

This Arab Revolution so far seems to be more subtle then the American Revolution with this group demanding dignity, social justice and freedom

Interviewed by Fareed Zakaria, Bruce Feiler’s new book, Generation Freedom, speaks about how a new Generation Sparked a revolution. It is about Arab Springs 1 billion youth under 30 who are plentiful, plugged-in and proactive, wanting the same Freedoms of the West.

Young Arabs, plentiful, One Billion strong with 100 million in the Middle East
Pinched…Educated with no jobs, opportunity literacy rate 91%
Plugged-in especially for women who are awakened and able
Proactive with passive parents who were told by dictators we will give you security and jobs, don’t question our authority. They are pushing back saying where are our jobs?

Muslim means one who submits and now we have a generation who is pushing back…awakened and wants to be active participants, not just passive observers
Plentiful, plugged-in, proactive..Not a Face Book Revolution so they say because it does not show their own creativity but as people to people like a face book friend request they want us to confirm them as friends but they do not want to be submissive to the West
