PEACE IS FLOWING LIKE A RIVER

Posted by Doug on April 20, 2009

Yes there is a flow to Peace. We need to capture this movement deep within and ride it as often as possible.

Rivers like humans have many interesting dimensions. On top most rivers are very active and energized, the surface current is fast and restless. In the middle of a river the current is more controlled and when we reach the bottom the motion of the water has little or no effect just before bedrock.  Here the motion is still and calm. Our minds are like that river were we can and often are frantically going with the current, somewhat out of control as the world sweeps us along. We can also become more in control by living and working in the middle of the river, not be obsessed by not having enough time or with getting things done immediately. This often causes depression and mental flurry disconnected from positive action. Finally we can slow our minds down more by diving even deeper into the river of life where there is more calm and solitude and where we get a chance to reflect on our life and actions. Finally we can reach the stillness of the bottom where we are able to find our center, where we are able to find peace.  I believe we owe it to ourselves, our loved ones and the world where we actively work to visit this stillness of the deep every day.

SPRING RINGS IN REBIRTH, RENEWAL & HOPE

Posted by Doug on April 11, 2009

The ringing in of the equinox at the United Nations on March 20th by Pete Seeger marked the beginnings of this marvelous season. The earth is reawakening with it marelous splendor with activity so dormant over the winter months. The hope is that peace which seems to be lost or dormant is also being revived and the word, the activity to make it happen is SERVICE.  By awakening to service mankind will awaken to itself for we are all connected and what is done to the least, the poorest of us, is done, is part of the rest of us.  Peace will only come from a realization of our connectedness and how each billionth of us effects all of us. We are a fratentity of peoples living on this small, precious planet, our home and each of us has the responsibility to become aware of how we effect this movement toward, service, fraternity and peace.
