Unconditional Love Brings Us Both Joy and Peace!
Posted by Doug on June 9, 2009
Many of the following ideas come from a highly recommended book, "Will War Ever End" by Captain Paul K. Chappell.
“A fire does not extinguish a fire, so evil cannot extinguish evil. Only goodness, meeting evil and not infected by it, conquers evil. That this is so is in man’s spiritual world an immutable law comparable to the law of Galileo.” Leo Tolstoy
We all need to become active soldiers for peace or as Edmund Burke and others who followed him would say. “All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good (men) people to do nothing.”
In the 5th Century BC Socrates said, “I am not an Athenian or Greek, but a citizen of the world.”
We have moved from becoming Independent to the knowledge and awareness that we as interdependent with each of us being an important part to the health and survival of our planet.
Contrary to the Machiavellian principle of the survival of the fittest, unconditional love, caring for each other and working together as a community will be the only way that humanity will survive and possibly flourish but our challenges ahead will require the utmost in intelligence, patience and courage. We all most take part each in our own way to make these changes happen for ourselves, our children, grandchildren etc.
400 CIVIC & RELIGIOUS ORGANIZATIONS RANG FOR PEACE TODAY!

More than 400 civic & religious organizations along the Hudson River rang for Peace today
From Glens Falls and Saratoga to Newark and New York City, on the east and west banks, almost 400 civic and church organizations so far have joined in this project this summer ring for peace project… Synergy etc..
Initiated mainly by newly formed non-profit, the Doug and Martha Martin Peace Bell Foundation and drawing from the words of folk singer Pete Seeger, * “If I had A bell I’d ring it in the morning, I’d ring it in the evening all over this land ”, there was a coordinating Bells For Peace Along the Hudson today as this years Quad Celebration, the 400th Anniversary of Hudson’s discovery of this river officially begins. This coordinating Bells For Peace will continue for the next four months ending with a finally ringing for Peace in October 3rd at noon.
The irony of bells as instruments of peace is that in times of war bells were trophies of victory to be melted down to make cannons. Let us hope and pray the ringing bells during this celebration will turn our attention to activities that foster peace within our families which in turn will send ripples of peace out into our villages, towns and cities and around the world. Groups and churches interested in chiming in these special moments of Ringing For Peace are requested to call 845-226-6752 for more details.
